Current Activities
I am currently working as a research fellow at the University of Pisa, focusing on the 4DDS (4D Drone Swarms) project. This project involves the development of autonomous vehicles and drone swarms operating in four dimensions: aerial, terrestrial, surface, and underwater. The project leverages advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and swarm robotics, integrating swarm intelligence techniques for the autonomous coordination of drones.
Another key aspect is the use of digital twin, which allows for the simulation of drones in realistic environments, reducing costs and risks associated with experimentation. The project also includes the use of Big Data to manage and analyze the large flow of heterogeneous information collected from sensors, supporting situational awareness and enhancing the decision-making process.
The focus is on implementing innovative control and supervision logics, enabling drone swarms to manage complex missions such as environmental monitoring, security operations, and critical transportation, ensuring an increasingly high level of autonomy.
